THE CHS PROJECT
BACKGROUND
The name "Church of the Holy Spirit" was inspired by the spiritual guidance of Rev Fr Simon Lau, the priest appointed by Archbishop Julian to lead the Project. Traditionally, the naming of a new church is the prerogative of the priest overseeing the project, and Rev Fr Simon Lau was deeply moved to name the new church after the Holy Spirit.
The rationale behind choosing the name “Church of the Holy Spirit" stems from the significance of the Holy Spirit in Christian theology and its role in guiding believers in their faith journey. The Holy Spirit is considered the patron of the church, and its presence symbolizes the movement towards mission and outreach. As one of the three persons of the Holy Trinity, the Holy Spirit embodies the essence of divine guidance, empowerment, and inspiration.
By naming the new church after the Holy Spirit, Rev Fr Simon Lau envisions the Church of the Holy Spirit (CHS) as more than just a place of worship for devotees. It is to be a missionary church, dedicated to spreading God's word and inspiring discipleship among believers. The name reflects the church's commitment to fostering spiritual growth, community engagement, and outreach initiatives that embody the transformative power of the Holy Spirit.
KEY PROJECT INFO
The CHS Project is a transformative initiative aimed at addressing the spiritual needs of the burgeoning Kwasa Damansara township. With the support of the Titular Catholic Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur and a dedicated team of professionals, the CHS Project seeks to construct a permanent home for religious worship and community engagement.
Objective
The primary objective of the CHS Project is to provide a sacred space for religious usage, catering to the growing populations within the proximity of the new church. Recognizing the necessity for a place of worship in the area, the State Government graciously granted land for the construction of the a new church.
Overview
The CHS Project entails the construction of a modern 5-storey church with a total built-up area of approximately 39,000 sq. ft.
Located at Lot 94217, Jalan Tasik Chanderoh U4/28A, Kwasa Damansara, diagonally opposite the Kwasa Damansara MRT Station, the church will serve as a beacon of faith and community unity in the township.
Estimated Development Cost
The estimated development cost for the new church is RM 16.0 million. This includes expenses for building construction, M&E services, interior fit-out, consultants’ fees, and other ancillary expenses.
FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
The CHS Building Fund Committee officially launched its fundraising campaign in July 2024 to raise the necessary funds for construction. With the support of the community and corporate partners, the project aims to secure the resources needed to realize its vision of a vibrant and inclusive place of worship and community engagement. Ongoing fundraising activities and initiatives will be organized throughout the construction of the CHS Project. The public is welcome to contribute, support, and volunteer toward the success of the Project.

and Committee
and Committee
Construction is targeted to commence in Q1 2025, with the project aiming for efficient execution and completion by 2028. Led by Rev Fr Simon Lau, the CHS Building Fund Committee comprises 15 dedicated members who bring a wealth of expertise and professionalism to the project.
Their diverse backgrounds, including developers, contractors, lawyers, accountants, economists, engineers, architects, and representatives from the youth, ensure the efficient execution of the project.
Community Impact
The CHS Project holds significant importance in fostering a sense of belonging and spiritual fulfillment among the residents of Kwasa Damansara, including existing parishioners from the Chapel of Kristus Aman at TTDI.
With the construction of the new church facility, these parishioners will automatically become part of the CHS community, having a permanent home they can proudly call their own. This seamless transition ensures continuity of spiritual support and community engagement, providing parishioners with a sanctuary where they can nurture their faith and build meaningful connections with fellow believers.
The new church facility not only meets the immediate needs of existing parishioners but also welcomes newcomers to join in the vibrant and inclusive community of CHS.
